Board to open eight administrative policies — including AI guidance — for public feedback

Superintendent Steve Cook told the board eight administrative policies are slated to go out for public feedback, including a revised talented‑and‑gifted policy and an AI policy (IKJ) to align district practice for instructional use and grading.
Cook said the revised policies reflect alignment with district practice, updated laws and OSBA sample policy. "IKJ, our artificial intelligence, has also been updated to align with our current district practices on how we are gonna use AI tools and the use of AI tools for specifically for, instruction and how they're gonna be used for grading and student feedback," Cook said. The fundraising policies previously released remain in review; engagement sessions are continuing with PTOs and other groups.
The district expects to return some policies in September and to put others into effect by October after public input is received and reviewed. Board members did not vote on these policies at the meeting; they were presented for information and community engagement.
