Natalie and Tony Marchitiello submitted a proposal to run the Monte Rio beach snack shack as volunteers on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays during summer 2025, offering to train and support seasonal staff and to keep their weekday menu and operations separate from District sales. The Marchitiellos told the board they would keep menus, food purchases and point-of-sale systems distinct and that switching the District’s POS from NCR to Square would facilitate setup and enable a tip function.
Administrator Marina McTaggart said staff would follow up with the accountant and the insurance company regarding any requirements for snack-shack operations and asked the Marchitiellos to provide a sample menu; the Marchitiellos are scheduled to appear before the board at the March 10 meeting for the formal presentation. No formal action was taken at the March 4 Facilities & Safety meeting beyond referring the proposal to the March 10 board meeting for consideration.
