Council approves $12,500 to fund museum clerk through fiscal year

Exhibitions and Public Programming Curator Alaina Noland asked the Council to approve a $12,500 budget adjustment to fund a Museum Clerk through the remainder of the fiscal year. Noland said Verna Yepez, transferred from the Senior Center, has no prior museum experience but has performed "terrific" work in training and visitor engagement.
"Verna now serves as the Museum Clerk and is performing terrific," Noland said, and added the clerk will be stationed at Red Rock Park Museum to monitor visitors and enhance public engagement. Councilor Sierra Yazzie moved to approve the budget adjustment, Councilor Sarah Piano seconded and the roll-call vote was unanimous in favor.
Discussion during the item noted Senior Center funding limitations and how interdepartmental transfers were executed. The Council approved the transfer to cover nine pay periods for the clerk position.
