Salem Township board approves grant application for Seanor Park maintenance equipment

The motion, made by Kenneth Trumbetta and seconded by Kerry Jobe, passed with Bob Zundel, Kenneth Trumbetta and Kerry Jobe voting in favor.
Board discussion reviewed vendor quotes for two shed options and two mower sizes. Meeting minutes record that the larger 40x40 shed was quoted at $64,780 and that the board chose the larger mower and the larger building, producing a total grant ask of $78,690.28. The minutes also note that if the grant award is for a lesser amount, "the Township will have to commit the balance in cash from Act 13 or other sources." The resolution also designates an agent to act on behalf of the township in all matters associated with the grant and authorizes execution and submission of required pro forma documents.
The approval covers the submission only; it does not itself obligate township funds beyond the authorization to apply. If the Commonwealth awards less than the requested amount, the township would need to identify local funding (Act 13 funds were explicitly discussed as one potential source). The board did not record any amendments to the resolution during the special meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 11:17 a.m. A motion to adjourn was made by Kerry Jobe and seconded by Kenneth Trumbetta; the board set its next regular meeting for Oct. 16, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Salem Township Municipal Building.
