The Salem Township Board said it is scheduling a Planning Commission public meeting to solicit comment on proposed revisions to the township’s Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO), including consultant‑fee provisions and clearer definitions for minor and major subdivisions and side‑lot additions.
Resident Jack Dunaway asked about the timing of SALDO revisions. Resident Ed Rebitch raised concerns about manhole depth on a sewage line running through his property, saying earlier plans kept manholes a foot below grade but newer plans put them at grade or slightly above—making use of the land more difficult. He asked supervisors to support an approach to Delmont Borough asking that manholes be kept below grade. Ed Rebitch also questioned the legality of Delmont converting a municipal line to a private lateral connection.
The Solicitor acknowledged the concerns and said the township will continue to coordinate with neighboring boroughs and follow Planning Commission processes; no immediate resolution was announced.
