Salem approves $35,000 toward Slickville VFD generator for warming/cooling station

The Board voted unanimously on Oct. 16 to approve a $35,000 donation to the Slickville Volunteer Fire Department to purchase a generator that will be used as a warming and cooling station during power outages.
Supervisor Kerry Jobe said the grant will complete one of the township's Hazard Mitigation checklists; Slickville also received a $10,000 grant toward the generator. Resident Debbie Perino asked whether Forbes Road would receive anything; Jobe noted the township previously donated $60,000 to Forbes Road VFD to help pay off a fire truck.
The motion passed unanimously.
