Local group 'Citizens for Percival PAC' formed to press for transparency, director says

Josh Shields told the Aug. 10 special Purcellville Town Council meeting that he and more than two dozen residents have formed the Citizens for Percival PAC to promote transparency and accountability in town government.
"Our sole purpose is to bring transparency and accountability to each of our town's elected officials and educate the public about the upcoming issues in this election," Shields said. He said the group has established a website and social media presence and has begun distributing candidate surveys and posting responses for the public to review.
Shields also accused the suspended vice mayor, Ben Nett, of publicizing and targeting commenters in a way that has created a chilling effect on public participation, and he urged citizens to inform themselves about candidates' positions. The PAC director said the group would publish survey responses and other materials in the coming weeks.
