The Woods Cross City Council convened a strategic planning retreat at the Utah Local Governments Trust building on Jan. 8, 2025, to set priorities for the FY2027 budget and departmental projects. Mayor Ryan Westergard opened the session and the City Recorder administered oaths of office to newly elected officeholders: Mayor Ryan Westergard (4-year term), Council Member Jim Grover (4-year), Council Member Eric Jones (4-year) and Council Member Rachel Peterson (2-year). The meeting was expressly a planning retreat; no formal actions were to be taken during the session.
After the swearing-in and a brief team-building exercise led by the mayor, staff gave presentations summarizing prior-year accomplishments and needs ahead of FY2027 preparations. City staff and council used an interactive Slido feed to collect priorities for follow-up discussion the next day. The session adjourned after evening presentations and a unanimous roll-call vote to end the first day of the two-day retreat.
