The council approved an agreement between the City of Lackawanna and the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services covering firefighter training and authorized the mayor to sign the contract. City Attorney Ariana said the contract is the same state standard that the city previously executed when hiring firefighters and is required for training at Montour Falls as part of state certification.
"It's a general contract anytime that the city sends firefighters to Montour Falls for training," Ariana said, adding that the city's recent hires need the state‑standard agreement to complete certification. The motion to approve the agreement and authorize the mayor to sign carried 5–0.
