The council voted to authorize the mayor to sign a contract with Erie County securing a $220,000 grant obtained through Legislator John Gilmore. City Attorney Ariana Kwiatkowski clarified the award is "to be used for a non capital project," noting she had corrected her initial agenda language and alerted council members by email.
Kwiatkowski also told the council the county contract must be submitted before the end of the year, which is why the item appeared on the Dec. 15 agenda. The mayor and senior staff are working to identify which non-capital project will receive the funds; the transcript records that the mayor was still making a determination and that staff would amend agenda language accordingly.
