Council discusses fines for illegal water taps and higher renter deposits to reduce unpaid final bills

The council also discussed increasing deposits for rental accounts because renters sometimes leave without paying their last bill. Staff and legal counsel (David) said the current agenda language is sufficiently broad to add these matters now, and they can be formalized in the written policy; the council asked staff to prepare the language for follow-up. No formal vote or adoption of fines or deposit increases was recorded at the workshop.
