Facilities committee reports: playground chips delivered, propane tank removed and parking reconfiguration planned

At its Feb. 5 Facilities & Safety Committee meeting, staff reported 12 cubic yards of wood chips were delivered for the Koret Park playground and will be spread by maintenance staff. Committee members also discussed long-standing enforcement questions about beach signage (no amplified music, no alcohol) and Marina McTaggart said she would contact the Sonoma County Sheriff's office for enforcement advice.

Steve Baxman reported the Fire Department removed a propane tank that washed up at the bottom of the steps near the boat ramp; he said it 'most likely came from the house on Westside Rd., that slid into the river during the rains.' A scheduled CAPRI insurance site visit was postponed because of rain-related flooding and road closures. The committee also discussed moving logs in front of Lightwave Café to permit a reconfiguration of the street parking to parallel stalls, a change intended to eliminate backing onto Main Street.

The committee reviewed staff scheduling changes to maintain daily facility coverage — with Leslie Hofelich working mornings and Nick Thayer afternoons — discussed interest from a Valley of the Moon Park Riders Union member in presenting on Creekside Skate Park, and considered partnering again with the Conservation Corps of North Bay for a Tire Amnesty Program in the middle parking lot.
