Council approves amendment to allow mixed commercial use at Choice Learning Center site

The Woods Cross City Council approved an amendment to the development agreement for the Choice Learning Center that will allow the property owner more flexibility to locate a commercial business within the same building as the private school. Community Development Director Curtis Poole told the council the current agreement limited the property to a private school; the proposed amended language allows other uses permitted or conditionally permitted in the Community Residential Transition (CRT) zone provided site-plan standards, parking, traffic circulation, and fire-safety requirements are met.
Poole outlined conditions recommended by staff: the applicant must record the amended agreement with Davis County, obtain a business license before operating a commercial business, secure approvals from the State Fire Marshal and South Davis Metro Fire Agency, and have any required building modifications reviewed and approved by the Building Official. The amendment was approved through the consent agenda.
