Police chief says schedules changed, raises and new officers added under new administration

The police chief, who identified herself as the '1st appointed black female chief for the Oregon County,' said the department revised officer schedules to ensure around-the-clock coverage, awarded raises and hired additional officers under the new administration. "We've been able to give our officers a raise, and not only that, we've been able to bring in additional officers up under the new administration," the chief said.
A law enforcement officer who spoke said their assignments have included patrol and investigations and described the job as one that allows officers to be available to residents: "if you have things on your mind, you can come and talk to me about it." The chief also reiterated department commitment to service with the department motto on its card: "committed to serve, proud to protect."
