Board gets Traffic Calming Assessment; radar signs to be deployed and study page updated

District Engineer Charlie Krebs summarized Tier 1 and Tier 2 strategies from the draft Traffic Calming Assessment 2025 report and said initial education-based road, bike and golf-cart safety measures had already begun. The board heard that three permanent and one mobile speed radar sign would be delivered to the property the first week in February and that early deployments have reduced speeding violations.
Eric Long asked Krebs to update Page 9 of the report to include the conclusion of the Traffic Study; the board asked members to advise staff of additional areas of concern and discussed informing residents about existing mandates and potential 'Do not pass golf cart' signage at the front entrance and crosswalks. The Pelican Sound Board is also considering modifying traffic violation terms in its bylaws. Staff discussed Safety Saturday events and other resident outreach methods.
