The Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education approved a contract recommendation on Aug. 11 to purchase a districtwide data‑dashboard solution from ABRAE (listed in meeting materials as Aubrey/ABRAE) under RFP 26‑003 for an initial implementation cost of $196,500. Staff said annual maintenance and licensing costs are expected to be lower after implementation, with subsequent years estimated at about $189,000.
Board members asked detailed questions about MTSS tracking, timelines for implementation, the overlap with Panorama and Qualtrics, family access, and whether existing contracts will be cancelled. Staff said ABRAE functions as a data ingestor and visualizer — it does not generate raw data — and that Qualtrics and Tableau will remain in use as short‑term tools while ABRAE ingests and consolidates sources. "Aubrey actually, just like Panorama, is not a data generator. It's a data ingestor, and then it puts that out for us in a visual form," a district representative said.
Staff described a phased timeline: baseline systems remain in place while ABRAE ingests student information system (SIS) and operational data, with an implementation window extending into December in the staff's estimate. The board approved the award on roll call; staff said they will follow up with contract language clarifying term lengths and transition plans.
