AFC Cleaning tells KCKPS it is still owed nearly $1 million for Arrowhead Middle mitigation work

Craig Collins of AFC Cleaning and Restoration addressed the board on Aug. 11 about a delinquent invoice from mitigation work at Arrowhead Middle School last August. "We were called in specifically for this job... Here we are today... the school has paid AFC $1,400,000; the remaining balance of $997,000 and some change is past due," he said, asking the district to help resolve the payment issue.
Collins described an accelerated timeline: AFC crews were dispatched within 24 hours, worked long hours including weekends and covered contents packing and cleaning valued at roughly $300,000. He said the core mitigation work was completed by Sept. 13 at about 12.5% below the budgeted not‑to‑exceed (NTE) price of $2.4 million, and that the vendor is still accruing interest on the unpaid balance. He asked the board to assist with any steps to secure payment; the board did not immediately announce remedial action during the meeting.
