Bennet commits 20% local match for SS4A grant to pave Cottonwood and Tyler

At its May 11 meeting the Bennet City Council approved a City Letter of Financial Commitment to accompany an SS4A grant application.
Brian Schuele updated the council that, "in accordance with the Safety Action Plan adopted last year, the City of Bennet is applying for a grant to pave Cottonwood & Tyler Streets and construct the trail that will connect the residential neighborhoods on the east side of town to the improved highway crossing that NDOT will construct." The council authorized requesting letters of support from partner agencies and approved providing twenty percent matching funds as the local commitment. Dan Zieg moved and Pete Simmons seconded the motion to approve the letter of commitment; the motion carried on a roll-call vote with votes recorded as yes.
The commitment formalizes the city's role in supporting the SS4A application; the grant, if awarded, would fund pavement and a new trail connection that relies on an NDOT highway-crossing improvement.
