Council clarifies meeting schedule and aligns purchasing threshold with state law

The City Council approved an ordinance Oct. 13 to clarify regular meeting dates and workshop scheduling in the city code, including how to handle a regularly scheduled meeting that falls on a holiday. Mayor Eileen Williams said the ordinance simply documents what the council has been practicing regarding the second-Tuesday regular meeting and workshop timing.
The council also considered amending the city's purchasing policy to reflect Senate Bill 1173, which raised the competitive-bid threshold from $50,000 to $100,000 under state law. City Administrator Annette Goldberg told the council the amendment is "really just changing the limits in importance to the state law," and the council concurred to align local policy with the state statute. The ordinance and policy change were approved by voice vote.
