Arcola reports progress on water plant, wastewater expansion and lift-station rehab

City Engineer Lawrence Turner (Kaluza, Inc.) told the City Council Oct. 13 that construction projects affecting Arcola's water and sewer systems are progressing and remain on schedule. Turner said crews have installed a 650-capacity pump and expect a 1,050-GPM booster pump to be installed "within the next 4 weeks," and that the contractor would start ring/foundation work for the ground storage tank the following week.
Turner also reported the wastewater treatment-plant expansion is underway and the construction contract is about 20% complete for the 450,000-gallon expansion. He said the permit for the permanent wastewater expansion remains with permit writers and the city hopes to receive final approvals "in the next 3 to 4 months." Turner described roadway and drainage cleanups citywide and a Sanitation Shore lift station No. 3 rehabilitation on North Pine Street, including subsequent sanitary sewer-line replacement. Council did not take separate action on these project-status items; staff will return with bid schedules and permitting milestones as the projects progress.
