New Holland board approves water payments, hires temporary water operator and signs Sheridan Township agreement

The Village of New Holland board on Aug. 13 approved multiple routine items, including payments tied to the ongoing water project, personnel actions and an intergovernmental agreement with Sheridan Township.
Val Goin moved to approve the secretary’s report, and the motion passed unanimously after Heather Rodgers seconded. The board then approved the treasurer’s recommended bill payments except for the Nextlink bill; Val Goin moved to pay all bills except the Nextlink bill, Heather Rodgers seconded, and the board voted in favor. Chris Cochran said he will contact Nextlink about that bill.
The board voted unanimously to pay pay estimate #9 on the water project and to approve change order #3, which revises the connection to the 4-inch main and removes a fence from the project plan. Jim Shelton moved and Ed Davison seconded an intergovernmental agreement with Sheridan Township, which the board also approved unanimously.
On personnel matters, the board approved hiring Ben McCormick as a part-time water operator to provide coverage when Kim Albers is on vacation and granted Albers two weeks of paid time off. The board approved payment of $6,116.25 for grant administration services provided by Milano and Grunloh.
Less formal business included plans to send letters to property owners with tall grass, replacing three non-reflective stop signs, and sending information about CAPCIL’s utility-assistance program with water bills. The meeting was adjourned following a unanimous motion by Jim Rehmann and a second by Jim Shelton.
The board’s votes were recorded as unanimous for all formal motions at this meeting.
