The Salem Township Board of Supervisors on Nov. 20 approved Resolution No. 29-2024 authorizing grant applications under the Pennsylvania Race Horse and Gaming Act to fund multi-area waterline extensions.
Supervisor Kerry Jobe said the township has received multiple resident requests for waterline extensions and that officials are identifying five candidate locations for potential projects. "Each of the projects is between $346K-731K," Jobe said, and he emphasized the board will select a final project based on merit because funding is not guaranteed. The roads listed as candidates include Kennan, Tucker, Hornock, Kaufman, Tower and Apple Lane.
The resolution designates an agent to act on the township's behalf for grant-submission matters and permits execution of pro forma documents needed for the application. Residents were asked to email the township with water issues so officials can add needs to the application list.
If awarded, the grants would cover design and construction work tied directly to the approved scope; the board did not commit to a specific funding-match amount in the meeting record. Final project choice and any fiscal commitment will return to the supervisors for approval if the township advances to contract or construction stages.
