The Lake George Park Commission voted Jan. 27 to accept New Water Marine’s proposal for diver-assisted suction harvesting and related milfoil-control services and authorized staff to prepare and execute a contract with expenditures capped at $1,500,000 over five years, pending available funding from New York State and other sources.
Staff said two qualified proposals were received and that New Water Marine’s lower weekly cost produced the higher score in the review. Commission staff reported an ongoing partnership with the Lake George Association, which contributes roughly $120,000 annually to milfoil management; the commission’s Environmental Protection Fund typically supplies a substantial portion of the annual program budget. The motion carried by voice vote.
