Dresden reports completion of Hewlett Seward line-burial project, comes in under budget

Charlie Tall, supervisor for the Town of Dresden, told the Lake George Park Commission that the Hewlett Seward line-burial project is substantially complete.
Tall described the trenchless lateral-drilling approach chosen to avoid stream disturbance, recounted encountering an unexpected rock feature that required an impact hammer, and said the project came in about $7,000 under the $235,000 budget. "We are coming in about 7,000 under our budget," Tall said during his presentation. He thanked commission staff and partners for technical and financial support.
The Town has submitted an $80,000 invoice to the commission for reimbursement; staff said they expect to return funds to the town within 30–45 days and asked the town to contact the office if any delay appears. Tall and staff noted the project originally faced false starts and permitting and legal steps that slowed initial progress, but that the work completed the objectives without disturbing the stream channel.
