The resolution text stated that Witt "has announced his well earned retirement after serving as the executive director of Lake George Park Commission from 2012 through 2025." Speakers at the meeting emphasized collaboration and long-term gains. As one attendee put it, "Dave, congratulations to you on a wonderful career of public service." The board presented a gift and several commissioners and partners offered personal remarks about Witt's leadership and the commission's collaborative approach to Lake George protection.
The resolution directs staff to honor Witt's leadership as a model for collaboration and stewardship of natural resources; it passed unanimously by voice vote at the meeting. The commission and staff noted they will continue current initiatives as the agency transitions to new leadership.
