Residents urge limits on short‑term rentals in Richardson neighborhoods

"There are 170 short term rentals in Richardson currently," he said, and urged staff to study long‑term effects on property values and local examples from other cities.
Ellen Beamer thanked council for earlier steps to control STR proliferation and suggested raising registration fees to pay for inspections so illegal conversions and unpermitted bedrooms are less likely to occur. Council members acknowledged the suggestions and indicated staff follow‑up would be appropriate as the STR discussion moves forward.
