Park Board approves hiring of Derek Zaire as Hawbick Center custodian

Parks staff told the board they had identified a candidate, Derek Zaire, to fill the custodian position at the Hawbick Center and asked for permission to hire him. Staff cited recent staffing gaps, out-of-service employees and the need for an additional on-site custodian to maintain operations.
A board member moved to appoint the candidate and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. "We finally found somebody," staff said when describing the recommendation to hire Zaire. The appointment was recorded as carried; staff will proceed with onboarding procedures.
