"We had an earthquake of a magnitude 7.4," the official said. "We have now hundred and 82 fatalities and 195 people report missing." The official said the quake has affected 14 of Colombia's 32 departments.
The official said the impact is larger than expected and highlighted urgent needs in shelter, health, food security and protection. Humanitarian partners are already in the field providing support, and search-and-rescue is the main immediate operation, the official said.
Officials also said national authorities have declared a catastrophe to enable a coordinated response, and a regional humanitarian fund managed by OCHA is being used to channel private donations.
