Public works reported that hand dryers in Community Park bathrooms were ripped from walls, a window was broken and staff are working to replace glass and fixtures. Members raised privacy concerns about camera placement where a camera could face private yards; staff said the intent would be crime-prevention monitoring, not continuous human surveillance. One member noted fireworks damage to pickleball courts over the July 4 period as a related enforcement concern.
Separately, staff described an early-stage, budgeted plan for parking kiosks that would charge non-resident users while leaving Canby resident parking free; the purpose is to deter misuse, increase patrols, and generate revenue to offset vandalism and maintenance costs. The board did not adopt a final policy and asked staff to continue refining placement, enforcement and privacy safeguards.
