City staff updated the board that the urban growth boundary (UGB) application has been submitted to the state for review and noted that the UGB process could make up to 25.7 acres eligible for park designation.
A staff member said the area now under review (Sub Area 1A) is anticipated to be largely residential and could include neighborhood parks or larger parkland, but stressed that annexation, developer actions and future concept planning are prerequisites before any land would become usable parkland. The staff update made clear that availability on paper does not equate to near-term park construction; build-out timelines could be years to decades.
Board members asked about concept planning and pedestrian connectivity; staff reminded members that concept plans will move through city and council review and developers will have opportunities to alter layouts during detailed planning. No land acquisitions or formal park designs were approved at the meeting.
