Playground at Auburn Farms clears inspection; splash pad installation imminent

Public works staff told the Canby Parks Board the Auburn Farms playground is on the verge of certification and the splash pad installation is moving forward.
Ryan Oliver, who led the update, said, “The final playground inspection passing form should be coming tomorrow,” and staff expect the playground to be certified safe once that form is processed. He said parts for the splash pad have arrived and the contractor plans to install them during the week; a grand-opening date will be set after the council’s Aug. 5 naming vote.
Members discussed lessons from an earlier Maple Street splash pad where a sealer made the surface slippery; a volunteer noted that sealer caused long-term slipperiness at a different installation, and board members said the new splash pad will not use that treatment. The council will consider formal park naming for Auburn Farms and Daphne Glen Park on Aug. 5; city staff will notify this board ahead of the grand-opening activities.
