The Boulder Cemetery Advisory Committee voted to raise the price of both cemetery plots and columbarium niches to $450 at its Jan. 19 meeting. Rosemary Perna moved the increase citing higher Clerk and Recorder fees; Patricia Lewis seconded and the motion carried with five aye votes.
The committee also set niche opening and closing rules: Perna moved that the first opening and closing be included in the $450 price and that subsequent openings or closings cost $75 regardless of weekday or weekend; the motion carried 5-0. The committee agreed to revisit related fees and provide clarifying documentation from the city's auditors about perpetual care funds, since Perna said 'the perpetual care fee was money that the City could NEVER spend.'
Members directed Perna to research council decisions on cemetery fees and return with a report at the next meeting.
