Council approves using $2,900 in credit-card rewards to fund Christmas parade catering

The City of Boulder will spend approximately $2,900 in credit-card reward funds on food for the upcoming Christmas Parade after the City Council approved the expenditure Oct. 21.
Rosemary Perna said auditors directed that rewards money be spent through the general fund; because the Parks Department organizes the parade, using the funds for parade catering complies with that directive. Perna said Sweet Spot owner Kayla Holman was receptive to catering soups and breads, and that she had reached out to food trucks in Helena with less enthusiasm from owners. Councilor Mike Taylor asked that the funds be spent locally and the council approved the proposal with four aye votes.
The council did not adopt a formal procurement policy change; Perna said the funds would be used from the general fund as auditors directed.
