Boulder signs Main Street agreement; agrees to apply for Main Street grant on behalf of Jefferson High School

Councilors voted Oct. 21 to enter into an agreement required by the Montana Department of Commerce to participate in the Main Street Program, and separately authorized the city to apply for a Main Street grant on behalf of Jefferson High School.
Rosemary Perna said the Main Street agreement requires community representatives to attend trainings and meetings, produce or provide a downtown Main Street map and set aside program funding during budgeting; she described the dollar amount as flexible. Perna said Jefferson High School wanted the city to submit the grant application and would provide the required match. Councilor Drew Dawson moved for the City of Boulder to apply for the Main Street Grant on behalf of Jefferson High School and accept funding if awarded; the motion carried with four aye votes.
Council did not commit to a specific budget allocation for the program at the Oct. 21 meeting; Perna said quarterly reporting would remain a program requirement if the city participates.
