Council authorizes signing DPHHS contract to pursue Medicaid ambulance reimbursements

The Boulder City Council voted Oct. 21 to authorize the mayor to sign a contract with the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) that would enable the city’s ambulance department to pursue Medicaid reimbursement.
Rosemary Perna, the city clerk/treasurer, told councilors the agreement is complex and had been reviewed by City Attorney Ed Guza. Perna said the contract is intended to provide additional funding to the ambulance service through Medicaid reimbursements administered by DPHHS. "This was a very complicated contract that City Attorney Ed Guza had reviewed," Perna said.
Drew Dawson moved to sign the contract and the council approved the motion with four aye votes; the motion carried with one member absent. The council did not vote on specific reimbursement amounts or enrollment details at the meeting; those operational elements will be handled by staff under the terms of the contract once executed.
