City introduces urban-forestry intern and notes new horticulture technician hire

Bowden said he has been "taking care of a 100 of the new plantings"—watering, mulching and applying compost tea—and staff praised his contribution and asked him to stay involved if possible.
Separately, staff said the city has hired a horticulture technician whose responsibilities will include pruning, mulching and planting perennials and annuals across city parks. Members said the new role's work has already been noticed by residents in Goodwin Park.
Committee members characterized the intern program as an important pipeline for young people into city work and thanked Bowden for his service as his internship approaches its end.
