Superintendent: elementary devices will stay at school next year; bond projects progressing

Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Shealy told the board that, following a pilot, elementary devices will remain on campus starting next school year and the district is ordering carts so devices can be stored and used in classrooms rather than sent home.
"For elementary school starting next year, devices will be staying at school," Shealy said, noting a Palisades pilot and an intent to provide communication to parents about GoGuardian settings for families who need remote control of device usage. She also provided a bond update: the middle school across the street is nearing completion with technology installs, solar panels and other systems, Forest Hills will have a DRC review on March 2, and reroofing and flooring projects are scheduled for summer. Finally, Shealy said the district requested staff vaccination records for measles and warned that a confirmed case would require a 21-day quarantine for unvaccinated individuals.
Board members thanked Shealy and discussed communications plans for parents; no formal board action on the tech or bond items was taken at the meeting.
