Council approves community "Car Smash" fundraiser with insurance condition

Petterson and Yoder described safety protocols including tarps under vehicles, personal protective equipment, a spotter to monitor swings and a proposed demonstration of the Jaws of Life by fire personnel. "We are prepared with tarps to be placed under the vehicle to insure best possible clean up," Petterson said, adding that church insurance is in place but the City should be listed as a secondary insured. Attorney Jason Moran cautioned that there is always some liability, but called the overall risk low with proper precautions. The Council approved the event on a 4-0 vote contingent on submission of insurance documents.
