Council hears $25K filter-media bid and $93K wastewater slip-lining plan in budget work session

Water Supervisor Mark Krenik asked for a $25,000 replacement of the water-plant filter media and an estimated $10,000 inspection for Well #1 as part of the city's three-year plan. "Requested to replace the Water Plant Filter Media, bid of $25,000.00," Krenik said. He also asked for replacement of two difficult-to-operate valves (approx. $8,000) and suggested scheduling the Water Plant driveway reseal with other sealcoating work.
On the wastewater side, Krenik described an approximate $20,000 annual jetting schedule and proposed a slip-lining program to rehabilitate 21,000 feet of clay wastewater lines per year starting with the worst sections; the initial cost cited was $93,000. He also requested manhole rehabilitation in multiple locations (~$30,000), a minimal cooling-system replacement for generators (~$8,000), and consideration of permanent bypass pumps at some lift stations. Krenik noted the slip-lined pipes would have an estimated useful life of "approximately 25 years."
