Board approves multiple school construction and furniture contracts totaling several million dollars

The district’s Contract Review Board approved four procurement contracts covering flooring, furniture, windows and a Westridge reclad and fire alarm replacement, each described by district staff as part of ongoing capital work. Sherry Harrod, a district staff member presenting the items, said Rubinstein’s Contract Carpet was the low bidder for flooring at Lake Oswego and Lakeridge high schools and gave a project estimate earlier in the presentation of $2,814,788 for work to be completed over two summers.

A board member moved to authorize a contract with Rubinstein’s Contract Carpet; the motion was seconded and the board voted in favor. Harrod also presented an open competitive procurement for classroom furniture at Westridge and Hallinan, saying IndiSource was the lowest responsive bidder at a total lump-sum of $288,537.48; that contract was approved after a motion and unanimous vote. For Lakeridge High School, Harrod said 1st Cascade Corporation was the low bidder for a fully designed window-replacement project with a lump-sum bid of $697,000; the board approved the contract. The board also approved a Westridge reclad and fire alarm replacement contract; Harrod described structural defects behind the brick and said 2KG Contractors’ low responsive bid was $1,820,000.

"We advertised and received three bids on March 18; Rubinstein's Contract Carpet was the lowest responsive bidder," Harrod said when introducing the flooring contract. The board recorded aye votes and carried each motion during that portion of the meeting. Notes: the motion language recorded in the transcript for the flooring contract included an internal typographical error in the dollar figure; the presentation earlier in the same segment lists $2,814,788 as the contract amount.
