Planning staff member Terry Mourning told the commission that the City of Cheney is starting to consider hiring an on-call planning service to provide assistance when needed.
"Mr. Mourning talked about starting to look at hiring an on-call planning service to help assist the city when needed," the minutes state. Mourning also explained that he had asked Spokane County to soften language in the Climate Element and that the most recent county updates did not make it into the distributed agenda packet, which is why wording shown on the meeting screen differed from packet materials.
No hiring decision was made at the March 9 meeting; staff said they would continue exploring options and return with more information if the City pursues contracting external planning support.
