Council approves seven Fire Hall change orders as construction continues

The Waterville City Council unanimously approved seven change orders for the new Fire Hall on Dec. 2, authorizing work by Braun Intertek, Superior Mechanical, Met-Con Construction (multiple trades), Timm’s Trucking & Excavating, Knutson Construction Services and Elite Electrical.
Councilmember Tim Smith moved to approve the change orders in their entirety (numbers 1 through 7); Councilmember Dave Wollin seconded the motion, which carried 5-0. During the budget discussion earlier in the meeting Administrator Teresa Hill told Council that Fire Hall debt service "increased to $296,188 for 2026 (down from 2025 debt of $273,000 with some debt dropping off)," which Council members cited as the major budget driver behind the 2026 levy increase.
