Council hears concerns; city says Meals on Wheels, food shelf and community uses will remain at Village

During approval of the agenda, Administrator Teresa Hill told council members she had spoken with residents concerned about the planned purchase of the Village property and requested a brief recap of the information. "The services that will stay at the Village are: Meals on Wheels, Sunday Food Shelf distribution, Santas Work Shop, Community Garden, and the space to be used by Citizens," Hill said.
Hill also summarized other discussion points raised by residents and council members including rental costs, repair costs for the current City Hall building, and the possible sale of three properties. Council member Jennifer Grobe asked whether an agreement would address issues prior to purchasing the Village; Hill responded that pre-purchase and early repairs would include siding, window replacement, roofing and fire sprinkler updates, while short-term systems (security, phone and internet) are being reviewed now. Hill said plans for a new library are being discussed but those renovation costs were not specified.
