Detroit council approves work to update development code; consultant estimate $10,470

City Recorder Michelle Connor told the council that prior work sessions had focused on updating the development code to address recreational vehicles and storage sheds on commercial property. Connor said the consultant estimate to complete the code amendments is $10,470 and that $1,800 of a planning grant could be applied toward the cost.
Councilor Denny Nielsen moved to approve proceeding with the amendments and Councilor Todd Smith seconded; the motion passed unanimously with Councilor Greg Sheppard absent. Staff will return with a contract and scope to be executed under the city’s procurement processes.
