Village Administrator Gregory Martin presented Ordinance No. 488 during a public hearing called at 7:05 p.m., which would add the newly created Village Attorney position to the Village Personnel Ordinance and Municipal Code. Martin said the Council had already approved funding for the Village Attorney position in the current fiscal year budget.
The public hearing was opened and no members of the public offered comment; the hearing was closed and the Council returned to regular session. Councilor Christopher Ortiz moved to approve Ordinance 488; Councilor James Runyon seconded and the motion carried 4–0.
The ordinance formally adds the Village Attorney as the fourth appointed position in the Village organizational structure alongside the Village Administrator, Police Chief and Fire Chief. Martin said that once a candidate is selected, an employment contract will be presented to the Council for consideration and approval.
