Council approves zone change to allow three homes at 560 Don Ernesto Lane

The Los Lunas Village Council on June 25 approved Application No. 26-02-R to change the zoning of roughly 1.72 acres at 560 Don Ernesto Lane SW from Agricultural Residential (AR) to Rural Residential (RR), enabling subdivision into three residential lots.
Community Development Director Alex Ochoa told the council the application was found consistent with the Village Municipal Code and the Comprehensive Plan and that the Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval after its June 3 review. Applicant representative Chris Sichler said, "the proposed half-acre lots would provide a transition between the existing townhome development to the east and larger residential lots to the west." No members of the public spoke for or against the request.
After closing the public hearing, Councilor Gino Romero moved to adopt the Planning & Zoning Commission findings and approve the rezoning; Councilor Matthew Chavez seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously (4–0).
