Mary Kaye Larson presented a draft strategic plan framework and implementation roadmap that centers measurable student outcomes and four conditions that enable learning: belonging, health/wellness and resilience, innovation and technology, and sustainability.
Larson said the plan links strategic foundations (mission/vision/values) through measurable outcomes and a layered monitoring approach with an infographic/dashboard for public reporting. Board members engaged in detailed discussion about how to measure belonging beyond surveys (attendance, behavioral indicators), how to show intersectionality among pillars (for instance, how nutrition or busing supports both sustainability and attendance), and whether to explicitly call out technology in the innovation condition or position it across the system. One director urged clearer language around health versus the broader term "wellness." Student board representatives and several trustees supported public dashboards and a layered infographic that allows both top-line and drill-down views.
Larson said the plan will be refined and returned to the board for further feedback on April 27 and then shared with SAC for district-wide input; the board did not adopt the plan at this meeting and will consider adoption after a public input period in early June.
