Mister Ketzler presented the request and reminded the board that some concerns raised when Mercy previously came before the board have been addressed. He said administration has observed improvements over the last months and is supportive of the request. Superintendent Dr. Shealy told the board the school’s attendance has increased and that students are receiving more support; she described the school as “fully vibrant.”
Director Gupta moved to approve the Mercy Greenbrae tax-exemption request and Director Wallen seconded; the board voted by voice and the chair declared the motion carried. Ketzler reminded the trustees that while the school board acts on the exemption request, any ongoing authority for tax exemption rests at the city level.
