District librarian and students celebrate School Library Month and spotlight library programs

"They are high traffic hubs of lots of learning, research, and community," Light told the board, then introduced student speakers who shared first-person experiences. Jack described visiting the library multiple times per week and finding it a quiet place to read and research; Alexa Claiburg described genre carts and "lucky duck" slips that encourage trying new books; Stein Van Huyck highlighted a wide range of offerings from comic books to a banned-book section.
Board members thanked the students and library staff and asked staff to share the infographic of library-by-the-numbers that was included in the meeting materials.
