"A great economic benefit for the community," the director said, adding that the town did not pay for the extra officers on duty. Committee members discussed opportunities to involve local youth and schools in future maritime-related programming.
The director also noted ancillary community activities — a performance that raised roughly $3,900 for a local shelter and other summer events — underscoring the broader economic and cultural activity over the summer.
